Step Stool
The small help that reaches the shelf; a humble, friendly image for a tutor who helps students reach.
§ 28Industry file · Education or tutoring
Parents and students choose a tutor for confidence, so the name has to be encouraging without sounding childish, and credible without sounding like a test-prep factory. The usual Bright, Star and Scholar words are everywhere; growth and curiosity can be implied without them.

§ 03House rules
Parents choose and students attend. A name must reassure one and not embarrass the other, so avoid baby-talk for older students and heavy jargon for younger ones.
Academy, Institute and School signal authority but are also used by large chains and sometimes regulated. Use them only if you are the kind of body they describe.
Parents search “maths tutor [town]” and “GCSE help”. Put the subject in a descriptor and a Maps listing even if the name itself is abstract.
In many places, words such as University, College, Accredited and Certified are regulated. Make sure the name does not imply a status you do not hold.
Tutoring often moves online. A name about learning (Step Stool, Second Wind) works in both settings, while a name tied to a place does not.

§ 06After the shortlist
A education or tutoring business name is easy to love in a list and hard to keep once it is on a door. Save the ones that slow you down, then put them through these.
