№ 01Swipe · gut first
Keep or pass. Don’t explain.
One name at a time, on its own sheet. Say it, feel it, swipe. Your first reaction is the data; the reasons can come later.
§ 01.1How it works
Three steps, no meeting.
Swipe is the first instrument in the Decide set. It turns a long list into a short one without a single pro and con.
- Step 01
Pick a deck
Swipe your shortlist, type names in, or have a fresh deck dealt from a one-line brief. Fresh decks refill as you go and learn from what you keep.
- Step 02
Swipe on instinct
Drag the sheet right to keep, left to pass, or use the arrow keys. Each name is set as a wordmark with its say-it score and domains beside it. Z undoes the last swipe.
- Step 03
Take what you kept
Kept names land on your shortlist. From there, run a Showdown, send the list to a co-founder, or put the survivors on a Scorecard.
Q.01Why swipe instead of rating each name?
Because the first two seconds are the honest ones. Rating invites you to build a case for a name you half like. Swiping makes you commit, and you can always undo. Names you keep are the ones worth arguing about later.
Q.02Where do the kept names go?
If you dealt fresh names, each keep goes onto your shortlist straight away, and undo takes it off again. If you swiped your shortlist, nothing moves until you choose to remove the ones you passed. Typed and sample names are saved only when you press save.
Q.03Is anything sent to a server?
Your shortlist and swipes live in this browser only. The one exception is a fresh deck: the brief you type, and the names you have kept so far, go to the name generator so the next batch fits your taste. No account, no tracking of your choices.
