§ 07About
A generator that stays until you decide.
bizname finds the names, checks the domains and then helps you choose between them, so you leave with a decision and not a spreadsheet of maybes.
Last revised 1 October 2026
- Twelve names per filing, each set as a wordmark with its .com, .io, .co and .ai checked live.
- Eight tools for the part other generators skip: choosing, alone, with a co-founder or with a team.
- Free, with no account. Your shortlist stays in your browser.
§ 01
What this is
Most name generators hand you a hundred ideas and stop. The hard part of naming a business is not the list. It is getting from the list to one name that you, your co-founder and your first customers will still like in a year.
bizname treats the list as the beginning. You describe the business in plain words, pick an industry and a tone, and get twelve names. Each arrives typeset as a brand, with a score for how easy it is to say and spell, and with its domains checked. Then you narrow, test and decide.
§ 02
How the names are made
Generated names come from an AI text model working from your description, the industry’s own naming guidance and the tone you picked. A name is never produced until you press the button, and the pages you read before that are static.
The industry pages are different. Their example names, tips and answers are written by hand for each industry, so they say something particular about naming a bakery that they would not say about naming a law firm.
§ 03
How domains are checked
Each name is looked up for .com, .io, .co and .ai as soon as it appears, at the registry where one can be queried and through DNS where not. Open means nobody appears to have registered it. Struck through means somebody has. Treat it as a strong hint and confirm at a registrar before you pay.
A free domain is not legal clearance. Search your trademark and company registers before you print anything.
§ 04
The eight tools
- Swipe. Gut first. Keep or pass, one name at a time, until a shortlist appears.
- Showdown. A head-to-head bracket. Two names enter, one goes through, until there is a champion.
- Co-founder Match. You both rank in private. Only the overlaps are revealed.
- Scorecard. Weight what matters. Score each name. Let the arithmetic argue.
- Radio Test. Hear the name spoken once, then type what you heard. If they can't spell it, they can't find you.
- Team Vote. Share one link. Everyone votes. No meeting required.
- In the Wild. A name looks different on a door than in a list. See it on a sign, a card and a phone.
- Share card. One name, one image. Drop it in the group chat and count the replies.
All eight take the names on your shortlist, and most accept names you type or a set of samples. The Decide page suggests an order.
§ 05
No accounts, on purpose
You do not sign up for anything. Your shortlist and saved games sit in your browser. Team votes and co-founder rooms use a private link instead of a login, and they expire after 30 days. The privacy policy lists everything that is stored and the terms say what the site does not promise.
