№ 02Showdown · solo or group
Two names enter. One goes through.
Stop comparing twelve names at once. Put three to sixteen into a knockout bracket, pick one of two each round, and the last name standing gets its certificate.

§ 02.2How it works
A knockout bracket for your shortlist.
Comparing twelve names at once is how people give up. Two at a time is a decision you can make in a second.
- Step 01
Pick who is in
Your shortlist loads by itself, up to 16 names. Nothing saved yet? Type names in, or try it on eight sample names.
- Step 02
Two names, one choice
Each round puts two wordmarks face to face. Click one, or press the left and right arrow keys. Backspace takes a pick back.
- Step 03
Crown the winner
The last name standing gets a Certificate of Name, a live .com .io .co .ai check and a share card. Hand the same bracket to a teammate if you want a second opinion.
§ 02.3Inquiries
Fair questions.
Q.01How does a business name showdown work?
It is a knockout bracket. Your names are paired off, you pick one from each pair, and the winners move on until one name is left. Choosing between two names at a time is far easier than ranking a whole list.
Q.02How many names can I put in?
Between 3 and 16. When the number is not a power of two, the top seeds get a bye through the first round, like a real tournament draw. Your first name gets the easiest path unless you choose Shuffle.
Q.03Is my bracket saved, and can someone else play it?
A bracket in progress is kept in this browser only, so a refresh does not lose it. Nothing is stored on our servers and there is no account. The result link and the bracket link carry the names inside the URL, so anyone you send them to can see the certificate or play the same names.
