A shared meal as the picture of community; right for food security and neighbourhood work.
§ 33Industry file · Nonprofit
A nonprofit name has to carry a mission on a banner, a donation page and a grant application. It should sound hopeful and human, be short enough to chant at an event and avoid the Foundation for the Advancement of… formula, which says nothing and fits on no one’s t-shirt.

§ 03House rules
A good nonprofit name works on a banner and as a call at an event. Short, rhythmic names (Many Hands, Open Hands) are easy to say in a crowd and to print on a shirt.
Long, abstract names fail on banners and in conversation. A short concrete image with a tagline that states the mission is more memorable and easier to share.
Many countries require charities to be registered under a name that is not too similar to another’s. Search the charity register and company register before you commit.
Names that suggest pity or a saviour attitude can offend the people you serve. Use words of partnership and shared effort instead.
Donors give on mobile, from a link. A short name and a clean domain make giving easier, and a recognisable name builds trust at the moment of payment.

§ 06After the shortlist
A nonprofit name is easy to love in a list and hard to keep once it is on a door. Save the ones that slow you down, then put them through these.
